February 7th, 2012, I walked through the doors of Harvest House residential treatment center for addiction. That was the moment i started again. My company brands the fact that, “Every day we have the opportunity to start again with limitless possibilities.”

During my time there—26 months—Start Artz Inc. was born! In 2015, I started my company by sitting on the ground in front of the Château Laurier in Ottawa, Canada (with a mission and a vision). From there, I became a vendor in the ByWard Market in Ottawa for 10 years. Throughout our growth, we had two spots in the market and one store inside. Over the years, we have provided jobs, opportunities, and spiritual mentorship for others in recovery from addiction.

Off and on, I have worked with treatment centers offering my Medi-Creational Art Therapy Program, which has been amazing. In 2020, we started the “Rise Above Campaign.” Since then, we have raised $8,000 for the addictions community and have clothed over 250 people in shelters with our hoodies, sweaters, and hats (because of you)!!

We’re not just selling a product, but products with a purpose and streetwear with a message!!!

Our long-term goals are to help house the unhoused in our city and eventually open a center to support individuals struggling with addiction and mental health. The vision is to utilize art therapy, music, meditation, and other holistic practices. We aim to help individuals recognize the personal power within themselves through a creative and healing process.
